蔡英文政府將「新南向政策」視為我國未來發展出路，監察院昨天進行年度巡察行政院，監委不僅好奇新南向的進展，更詢問行政院是否考慮安排蔡英文總統出訪新南向國家？對此，行政院表示新南向以人為本，並不是要推動具有政治意涵的高層互訪。

江綺雯指出，早期南向政策重大成果之一，就是促成雙邊高階官員互訪，像是前行政院長連戰的星、馬行，前總統李登輝經由菲律賓前往印尼及泰國的「度假外交」，不但具有象徵意義，實質上更輔導國營事業及民間中小企業前往東南亞投資。現今行政院的「新南向政策推動計畫」也提到，要推動與新南向國家的多層次、全方位協定與對話，有沒有可能安排蔡英文總統出訪新南向國家？
